FAQ

How listening turns into points, and what those points are for.

Can I listen without an account?

Yes. A guest can play previews. A guest does not earn points. Sign up, then a finished preview counts.

When does a preview count?

It has to play all 30 seconds. Skipping out early pays nothing. The same song pays once per day. Replaying it does not earn again until the next day.

How many songs can I earn from in a day?

20 different songs. A 21st song that day pays nothing.

How many points is that?

Right now each preview is 8 points, and the day stops at 167. After 30 days it drops to 5 a song, capped at 100. After 60 days it drops to 3 a song, capped at 67. The clock started September 26, 2026. After 90 days this early rate stops.

What does the artist get?

When someone else finishes their preview, the artist earns 32 points a listen right now, up to 667 a day. That becomes 20 a listen (400 a day), then 12 a listen (267 a day). Listening to your own song pays you nothing.

Can I see what someone else has earned?

No. The header shows your total only.

Does an artist have to be on SoundCrate to earn?

Yes. The song’s artist page has to belong to a signed-in artist account. A name that only exists on Spotify does not have a balance here yet.

What are points?

Points are a thank-you for finishing a 30-second preview. Fans and artists earn them. You spend them inside SoundCrate. They are not cash, and they are not for sale. More ways to use them will be announced when they are real.

What can I use points for?

Spend them on an artist inside SoundCrate, such as merch or a subscription, when those are open. A tip is separate. A tip is money for the artist. It is not points.

How does an artist claim a page?

Sign up, choose I am an artist, and pick the Spotify artist page that is actually yours. Until that page is verified, the tip jar stays locked to the artist.
