Terms

The rules for discovering artists here. Previews, tips, and tokens included.

The agreement

These are the rules for using SoundCrate at joinsoundcrate.xyz. If you create an account or keep using the site, you agree to them. If a law where you live gives you a right that cannot be waived, that right still stands.

What SoundCrate is

SoundCrate helps people find artists they have not heard, play a 30-second preview, follow them, save a song, and support them. It is not a streaming service for full songs, not a record label, not a bank, and not a place to buy or sell a token.

Your account

You need an accurate name and a real email. One person, one account. You are responsible for what happens on it. Guests can listen. Only a signed-in account can earn tokens, follow, tip, or post.

Artist pages

You may claim only a Spotify artist page that is yours. Picking someone else’s page, or pretending to be them, is not allowed. Until the page is verified, it stays unclaimed: people can see that it is not claimed, and they cannot tip it. A verified artist is the only person who can collect tips for that page.

The music

Previews are streams from Spotify so you can decide if you want to hear more. You do not get a right to download them, copy them, or upload them somewhere else. The full song opens on Spotify, and Spotify decides whether your account there can play it. Do not add someone else’s recording to SoundCrate and call it yours.

What you post

You keep ownership of the words, photos, and other material you add. You let SoundCrate show that material on the service, including on your profile and in discovery. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share, and do not post anything that attacks, threatens, or impersonates someone.

Tokens

A token is a thank-you for finishing a 30-second preview. The same song pays once a day. Listening to your own song pays nothing. Guests do not earn. Tokens are spent inside SoundCrate, on things like merch or a subscription when those are available. They are not cash, they are not a security, and they are not something you buy in the hope they rise in price. Rates can change. There is no promise that tokens can be sold, transferred off the site, or exchanged for money.

Tips

A tip is a gift to an artist. It is not a token, and it is not a payment for a share of anything. SoundCrate does not keep the tip. Only the verified artist can claim it, after they prove the Spotify page is theirs. An unclaimed page cannot be tipped.

What you can’t do

Don’t use bots to farm previews or tokens. Don’t scrape the catalog to rebuild Spotify’s library. Don’t open fake artist pages. Don’t break the site, other people’s accounts, or the law. Shows and Marketplace are labeled coming soon. They are not available, and trying to treat them as live is not a right you have.

If we close an account

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, including a false artist claim or token farming. You can stop using SoundCrate at any time and ask us to delete the account.

No promise of an audience

Discovery can put an artist in front of more people. It does not promise streams, fans, income, or a career. Previews can fail when Spotify is unavailable. The site can change, pause, or remove a feature.

Liability

SoundCrate is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost tokens, a missed show, or a decision you made because you found an artist here. If we are liable, it is limited to the amount you paid SoundCrate in the previous three months, or fifty dollars if you paid nothing.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the update. Questions go to hello@joinsoundcrate.xyz.
