What SoundCrate keeps when you discover artists, and what we leave on Spotify.
The short version
SoundCrate is a place to find artists and hear a short preview. We keep the account you create, the city you pick, and what you do here: follows, saves, finished previews, tips, and token rewards. We do not sell that information. We do not keep full songs from Spotify.
What you give us
When you sign up we store your name, email, and the city you choose. If you use Google, Google sends us the name, email, and photo on that account. You can add an avatar, a bio, photos, and posts. An artist who claims a page gives us the Spotify artist page they say is theirs, so we can check it is the right one.
What we notice while you listen
A finished 30-second preview is stored so we can count it once a day, show it in your activity, and add tokens. We also store follows, saves, likes, passes, and the artists you open. Guests can listen. Guests are not tied to a reward balance. We do not build a public score of your taste for other people to browse.
Spotify
Previews, cover art, and the public details on an artist page are requested from Spotify when you open them. We do not copy the full recording onto SoundCrate, and we do not ask for your Spotify password. When you leave to hear the full song, that play happens on Spotify under Spotify’s own rules.
Tips and tokens
A tip is a record of who you supported, how much, and when. A token is a reward for finishing a preview. We store your balance and the listen that earned it. Tokens are for use inside SoundCrate. They are not cash. We do not take your card number on this site. If a payment partner is added later, that partner handles the card, not SoundCrate.
Who else sees it
Your name, avatar, city, and posts are visible on your profile. An artist can see how many people follow them, which of their songs are saved, and the cities their fans listed. They cannot see someone else’s token balance. We use Supabase to store accounts, Google if you sign in that way, Spotify for the catalog, and Vercel to serve the site. Those companies process data only so the product can run. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep an account while it is open. If you ask us to delete it, we remove the profile, the listening record tied to you, and the token balance. A tip you already sent can stay on the artist’s record without your name. Logs that keep the site secure are deleted on a shorter cycle.
Your choices
You can change your name, city, and avatar from your profile. You can skip the vibe questions. You can stop using the account. To get a copy of your information or to delete it, write to hello@joinsoundcrate.xyz from the email on the account.
Kids
SoundCrate is not for children under 13. If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Using SoundCrate after that date means the new policy applies.
